About the club

We are a club based in Boyle, the North West of Ireland and love to explore the highways and byways of the beautiful surrounding countryside. We cater for all levels of fitness and welcome everyone into the club with a passion for cycling.

It currently has over two dozen members with an emphasis on leisure cycling including participation in nationwide sportives. A number of the club cyclists have also undertaken L'Etape du Tour in France over the years.

Mid week cycles take place every Tuesday and Thursday with a ladies cycle on Saturday and the main club spin every Sunday.

The Curlieu Wheelers Cycling Club is one of the most active organisations in Boyle going from strength to strength every year.

Curlieu Wheelers cycling club was formed in 1989 by Pat Brogan and the late Vincent Harrington. It was initally set up as a vehicle for cyclists to train for the Co operation North Maracyle. Back in 1989, 24 people from the club participated in the event. Initally, the club was the only registered cycling club in Roscommon. Prior to 1989, the Boyle Cycling Club existed. This was mainly a racing club consisting of Brian Nerney, Donald Brennan, Paul Kearney and Peter McKenzie who were the most active members on the racing scene at the time. The Curlieu Wheelers club in it's early years mainly consisted of members who enjoyed leisure cycling but two members John Nevin and Michael Burke also participated in a number of Time Trials throughout Connacht.
